Day & Night

For me, commuting is the worst part of having an internship in NYC. It’s not so much the 40 minute ride on the way there, but on the way home, it feels like forever and often discourages me from going out on weeknights. Plus, when I want to go out straight from work, it requires me bringing an extra bag with different shoes, and makeup (for a touch-up).

But, one way that I’ve made my workdays turned into nights out easier is by wearing something that’s easily convertible and appropriate for the office and a bar. Having on a versatile outfit makes it so much easier to take your look from day to night, work to play. Here are some outfit ideas:

Outfit 1: Colored Jeans & a White Tee

Everyone knows that colored jeans are having their moment, and if you’re in a fashion-forward office, they can definitely be worn with the right accessories. Paired with a neutral blazer, the pants do all the talking. For a night out, strip off the blazer and throw on some bold accessories to complete your look.

Outfit 2: Flowy Black Dress

Dress; Day: Necklace, Bag, Shoes; Night: Necklace, Ring, Clutch, Shoes

A flowy, black cotton dress is the perfect day to night staple. It can be dressed down for work with a pair of comfortable flats, or dressed up with sleek accessories and a pair of heels. The statement necklace can go from day to night and is an easy way to make a plain black dress exciting.

Outfit 3: Tank Top & Pleated Skirt

Tank Top & Pleated Skirt; Day: Blazer, Necklace, Bag, Flats; Night: Necklace, Clutch, Wedges

The pairing of a pleated skirt (one of spring/summer’s hottest trends) and a tank top offers so many possibilities. By day, pair it with neutrals and pastels, and you instantly have a feminine, demure outfit, totally work appropriate. But, for night, pair it with bold black accessories and instantly, you’re edgy and sexy.

What’s your go-to day to night outfit? Will you be trying any of these looks? Let us know in a comment!
