Think Inside the Block

Color blocking is surely going to be one of spring’s biggest trends, and rightfully so. With pastels and florals seen as “typical” springtime wear, color blocking plays with color in the boldest of ways.

Color blocking is all about playing with the color wheel. Colors across from each other on the wheel are the most natural pairs, but shades within the same range look great together too. Jewel tones and neons are this seasons hottest colors to use when indulging in this trend. Here are some outfit ideas inspired by color blocking:

Block and Blue

Tank Top, Shorts, Belt, Wedges, Blazer

To me, this outfit is the epitome of color blocking. Structured, bold pieces in bold colors that will make you the center of attention in any room. This outfit can be completely work appropriate too, but only if you’re in a more laid back, trendy environment.

Fire and Shine

Trousers, T-shirt, Flats, Clutch, Belt

Adding whites and metallics to any color blocked outfit can help tone down the “wow” effect (but not by much). Pairing red and orange together may be a choice for those who want to experiment with color blocking without fully diving into the trend.

New Kid on the Block

Romper, Belt, Shoes, Bag

For the color shy, try starting with a few accessories. This black romper is the perfect canvas to toss color onto, whether it be a bold belt, bag, shoes or scarf.
